Starlight Sisters

Research is ongoing regarding the marble slab recently unearthed in what was once Albia. Dating earlier than any previously known writing system, it is thought to describe a group of deities, mythical figures, historical figures, or local individuals of status. Currently, one of the only clear elements is an association with the night sky, which has led social media to give these figures the catchy moniker 'The Starlight Sisters,' despite no evidence that the group was either blood-related or all-female.

The following is a reproducation of the best-preserved illustrations on the slab. Colors have been added through a combination of chemical analysis and artistic reinterpretation.

Below are tentative translations of a portion of the slab's text. It should be stressed that these are drawn from an understanding, itself piecemeal, of linguistic traditions that were in use centuries later, having undergone significant drift. The translations therefore may well be updated as new analysis comes to light.

A bumbling assassin who tends to fall apart on the job.

Misket, the stoic and tireless ghoul-slayer who Death forgot.

A sweet little goof who thinks she paints the sky black each night. LOL! Obviously it gets dark because the sun goes to the river to fish.

Lady Mish, the living mansion on the moon. She manifests in avatars made of household items.

Clether, the shrewd keeper of all truth, for whom all spiders are messengers.

Jessakin, extraordinary street-fighter and rule-breaker. Every tattoo is a victory.

Purfin, the ever-captured princess who loves getting the chance to call for help through her mirror.

Xinxin, an unknown being from the core of a star who shapeshifts and edits memories to blend in.

The smith who produces weapons for the worthy. His armor is to him as soft as cloth.

The ancient painter who makes the seasons of Earth, constantly dissatisfied and redoing her work.

The disgraced patron of doctors who fell to a rotting thirst for blood.

The cool and fun DJ who speaks your dreams to you every night in her hundred voices.

Chrysamin, extraordinary prize-fighter and law-upholder. Every ribbon is a victory.

The historicolinguistic world has been thrown into fierce debate by a purported connection between the 'Starlight Sisters' (see previous issue) and the Zochna-era deities 'Lomagai' (sometimes 'Lomgai,' 'Loma Guy,' etc) and 'Ocha' (or 'Otsa'). Reprinted below are some of the best-preserved depictions of the pair, derived from frescos in Eyiptan burial mounds. Included within the images is a new, controversial translation of the nearby inscriptions thought to be the characters' 'dialogue.' Following the images, find a brief bio of each deity.

"HI everybody this is me my name is Lomagai and this is a picture of me winning at something which happens very, very remarkably often. Anyway um I am like a rain spirit god deity girl or something and I am part of the Starlight Sisters and we live in space. I always have rain and a puddle because of the rain god thing I mentioned just now and so that probably explains the raincoat which I love. Ummmm also my best friend is Ocha and she is also a Sister! Ok I’m running out of space bye!!!!!"

Lomagai, the Rain Spirit

A playful puddle-stomping young girl, always depicted in a raincoat and followed by a personal raincloud. She speaks the language of water, and can ask it questions or get it to do tricks.

She loves to play marbles using comets and stars, and when you see a shooting star it means she knocked one out of the ring. Her ultimate prize is the sun, so her victory would end the world. Luckily, she’s really bad at it.

"My mom is a giant anglerfish thing. Alright, have a good one! My name is Ocha. My best friend is Loma who lives right next door in space. Maybe I’ll meet you yesterday. I’m the princess of the undersea where time has no meaning. Hi, everyone! We’re part of the Starlight Sisters who are a bunch of magical guys."

Ocha, the Octopus Heir

An eternal preteen awaiting a throne that will never be vacant, Ocha is adventurous, mischievous, and somewhat careless with the wellbeing of others. She lacks critical thinking skills and is easily led on by friend and foe.

Ocha has tentacles for hair and a body made of sand – solid when wet, but easy to break apart and reshape to her convenience, particularly to switch between legs and mermaid tail.

In Zochna myth, the sea wraps around and connects to space. Within the sea, time was thought to be messy and mixed-up, with the sea denizens all just being used to time-traveler's-wife-ing each other constantly. Stories focused on Ocha were typically told out of chronological order.
